Alex is an Account Executive at Fenton. He joins the Fenton team with over five years of in-house marketing and communications experience at the environmental advocacy nonprofit, Greenbelt Alliance. Born and raised in the Bay Area, Alex graduated from UC Berkeley and is passionate about all things sustainability and social justice. He uses his expertise in inbound and outbound marketing, advocacy communication and social media to help Fenton’s clients reach their target audiences. When he’s not working, Alex obsessively follows the Golden State Warriors and Arsenal Football Club.
Alyssa Singer is a Senior Account Executive in Fenton’s San Francisco office. As part of Fenton’s social justice practice area, Alyssa spends her days helping changemakers tell their stories. She specializes in communications coaching, writing, brand strategy and project management. When she’s not tweeting about social justice, she enjoys traveling, cycling and sailing.
Amrit Cheng is a Senior Account Executive at Fenton. With a passion for storytelling and building media partnerships, her previous roles include media relations for the Clinton Foundation and immigration legal advocacy. Outside of the office, Amrit is usually seeking out her next travel itinerary and a nearby body of water.
Andrew Necola is Fenton’s IT Manager. Managing technical operations at Fenton, Andrew Necola juggles multiple responsibilities to provide agency-wide support to Fenton’s staff. He works to shape Fenton’s IT software, hardware, and infrastructure to improve user experience and staff productivity. Andrew also has an accounting background and loves to spend long hours reading the latest tech news and working to change the way we communicate globally.
Ann-Sophie Morrissette is an Account Director at Fenton. She brings over 15 years experience in strategic communications, media relations, and advocacy to her work with the agency. She excels at tackling complex social issues with clarity and originality, having led communications for nonprofits, foundations, and social enterprises. She has worked on issues ranging from women’s rights, to childhood hunger, to school discipline reform.
Becky Romano is the Office Manager for Fenton’s San Francisco office. She joined Fenton in July 2016. She is a lover of all things organizational and administrative. She assists with a multitude of operational needs, and is passionate about the work Fenton continues to do. Away from work, she is an avid walker and a cinema buff.
Breukellen Riesgo is the Operations Associate at Fenton, which she joined in 2015. Breukellen’s diverse professional background as a figure skating coach, bartender, administrative assistant and photographer endowed her with a broad skill-set. Outside of the office, Breukellen enjoys sampling micheladas from around the city and watching Star Trek - Captain Janeway is her role model.
Elleni Almandrez is a Senior Account Executive at Fenton. She specializes in communications strategies, media relations, events management and media training. Elleni works to advance the issues she is most passionate about including: global women’s rights, equal opportunity and global development issues. Outside the office, Elleni enjoys traveling the world with her family and scoping out new restaurants. Elleni received her bachelor’s in Journalism from Howard University and a master’s in Corporate Communications and Public Relations from Georgetown University.
For more than 15 years, Eric Hollister Williams has dedicated his career to advancing policies that address social inequality and injustice. With a background in political advocacy, strategic communications and, stakeholder engagement, Eric currently serves as a Special Projects Director for the Ohio Democratic Party, which is coordinating the Hillary for America campaign; was as a Senior Director at Williams Works, a social impact and philanthropic advisory firm based in Seattle; served as the Democratic Staff Director for the House Subcommittee on Africa, Global Health, Global Human Rights and International Organizations; and was a senior foreign policy staffer in the U.S. House of Representatives.
Eteng Ettah is an Account Executive at Fenton. She provides day-to-day client support, through combining digital messaging, research and media relations with her passion for human rights and global development. A native to agency life, Eteng previously worked for Edelman’s Digital Health practice. When not devising a plan to save the world, she can be found brunching in foreign and familiar cities. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Cornell University in Communication.
Ira Arlook is Fenton’s Chief of Advocacy Campaigns. He’s led Fenton’s work on campaigns for organizations battling sweatshops abroad, the invasion of Iraq, support of President Obama’s nuclear deal with Iran, an end to toxic diesel emissions from container trucks serving all of America’s sea and inland ports, and many others. Prior to joining Fenton, Ira worked in the nonprofit sector for more than two decades, with a strong emphasis on issues of social and economic justice. He serves on the board of the Public Defender Service of Washington, DC.
James is an experienced entrepreneur, investor and private equity professional. He has founded, invested in or led companies in many different industries through periods of intense growth and development. James is presently focused on building successful businesses in the digital media and communication sectors. Notable current holdings include Collegium, a rapidly growing professional services holding company and Honor Capital, a leader in the specialty finance/insurance industry. He co-founded Watershed Company and 3BL Media and served as senior advisor to Donor Trends and True Givers. James received his MBA from Harvard and is a non-practicing CPA and former investment banker. He is a regular speaker/panelist at industry conferences and has been published, quoted and interviewed on: CNN, Wall Street Journal, Forbes, New York Times, Fortune, Red Herring, Financial Times, Ad Week and other leading publications. James currently resides in Westchester with his wife and three daughters.
Jane Stout has spent 25+ years in the communications world. She has actively participated in progressively growing agencies working within numerous integrated channels for a broad range of clients and industries: traditional advertising, branding/brand activation, video production, print, social, digital, live meetings/events and trade shows/exhibits, as well as partnering with Omnicom's PR and media agencies. She has core competencies in agency structuring, change management, operations management/systems and processes, human resource management, recruitment and staff development, compensation structuring and team building, cost improvement, profit & loss management, corporate and new business strategic planning mergers & acquisitions strategy and integration. She also spent 7 years working in broadcast in the both production and creative services and has a strong video background. She and her partner live in Westchester County. She is a foodie and a “want to be” golfer.
Jay Malsky is the Executive Assistant to the CEO at Fenton. He supports Michael Huttner as well as Founder David Fenton.
Jennifer Hahn is a Senior Vice President in Fenton’s NYC office. A field leader with more than 20 years of nonprofit experience, she directs branding, messaging and advocacy campaigns for critical social issues such as education, social and economic justice, gun violence prevention, children, youth and families. With a strategic mind and an activist’s heart, she harnesses issue framing, messaging, media advocacy and public engagement to advance her client’s progressive goals. From strategic planning to CEO speechwriting, campaign management to opinion research, Jennifer isconsigliere to nonprofits and foundations. She is also an expert presentation, speech and media trainer who is passionately committed to ensuring her clients’ success.
Julia Peek is a Senior Account Executive at Fenton. She works in the Climate and Clean Energy practice helping Fenton mobilize new audiences, sway public opinion and tell compelling stories about the sustainable revolution. Before joining Fenton, she worked on fossil fuel divestment, environmental justice, environmental conflict resolution and just transition. When not working, Julia loves to sea kayak, whitewater kayak, bike, camp, and go on adventures.
Karen is Fenton’s Chief Strategy Officer and the Managing Director of the New York City office. With over 30 years of experience in communications, Karen has worked primarily on behalf of low-income neighborhoods across the country by promoting community and economic development initiatives. Before joining Fenton, she was the Press Secretary for NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio, the first Mayor in the nation to require market-rate developers to build affordable housing in exchange for tax breaks. From 2000 to 2015, she was President of her own company, Hinton Communications, a public relations firm with offices in Washington, DC, and New York City. Her company provided strategic communications services, media relations, media training and event planning services to mostly non-profit and government clients. Its expertise was in promoting advocacy issues through the news media and media-related events. Her clients included the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, the U.S. Department of Labor and the General Services Administration. She represented the Merchants Payments Coalition, the U.S. Conference of Mayors, the National Realtors Association, Enterprise, LISC, the Amazon Defense Coalition, New American Schools and many other nonprofits that focus on affordable housing, education and the environment. Karen worked in Democratic policies and on Capitol Hill for 14 years. At the Democratic National Committee, she was a press aide to former White House Press Secretary Mike McCurry and the late Ron Brown, former DNC Chair and U.S. Secretary of Commerce in the first Clinton Administration. During the Clinton Administration, she served as Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development for former HUD Secretary Andrew Cuomo. Before that, she was Secretary Cuomo’s Senior Advisor for Communications. In that role, Karen became well versed in community and economic development policies and programs at all levels of government. Earlier, she worked as Press Secretary for former U.S. Congressman and Agriculture Secretary Mike Espy. With Espy, she learned the ends and outs of Capitol Hill and, as Director of Marketing/Communications for the D.C. Public School System, she experienced firsthand the challenges of a big-city school system. Immediately after graduation from the University of Mississippi, where she majored in Political Science and Journalism, Karen was a reporter, covering City Hall and statewide politics for the Jackson Daily News in Jackson, Mississippi, and then later a general assignment reporter for the Rocky Mountain News in Denver, Colorado. Karen left the news business to work in political campaigns but she still suffers from the journalism bug.
Kitty Overton is Fenton’s Senior Strategic Content Producer. Working directly with clients and in conjunction with communications teams across offices, she oversees the creative development and execution of all video content. Kitty’s strategic story-telling skills and production expertise were developed over a long career in commercial production and working with some of the world’s best-known agencies and brands.
Kristen King is an Account Director at Fenton. She develops and executes media strategies, conducts media trainings and produces events. Kristen works with clients to craft their stories to ultimately change the way people think about and respond to important issues like climate change and extreme poverty. Kristen is a Florida Gator living in New York who, in her free time, takes dance classes and catches as many Broadway shows as possible.
Lucille Renwick is a communications strategist with more than two decades of experience helping individuals and organizations tell their stories and advance their goals and missions. Formerly, Lucille led communications and marketing efforts for the City University of New York’s School of Law, helping to advance the school’s mission of public interest and public service law and has spent more than a decade as a journalist and editor writing about and advocating for education and on behalf of K-16 nonprofits. As a communications professional, Lucille has helped nonprofits and public, charter and private schools, in New York, Los Angeles and abroad, tell the important stories about their work.
Mercy Albaran is a Senior Account Executive at Fenton. She uses her messaging and media relations skills to share the stories behind struggles for social justice, health access and education. Before joining Fenton, Mercy was the Communications Lead for a successful, legislative campaign for a Domestic Workers Bill of Rights in California. In her spare time, she likes to learn languages, eat cake, sing and beatbox.
Michael Huttner is a corporate and political strategist, attorney and entrepreneur. Since 2016 he has been the CEO of Fenton. He previously served as President of the Huttner Group, Inc., a Boulder-based firm which helps solve complex financial, communications and public policy problems in a variety of industries. Michael has helped launch over 40 different political organizations and has led communications ‘war-rooms’ for political and private clients. He also is a Founding Partner of Triumph Strategy, LLC, in which he has worked with hedge funds, public and private corporations and other financial institutions. Michael is the Founder of ProgressNow, a network of state-based communications organizations that moves people to action through communications and digital media. Described as the “crown jewel” of progressive investors’ efforts to build messaging power in the states, ProgressNow continues to expand with more than 3.4 million members in 23 states Previously, Michael was a founding partner in the Denver law firm of Foster, Graham and Huttner where he headed the firm’s political, nonprofit and lobbying practice. Prior to his private practice, he worked as Policy Advisor to Governor Roy Romer and clerked at the Clinton White House for the Office of the Counsel to the President Michael also has taught as an adjunct professor at the University of Denver College of Law. He earned his J.D. from the University of California, Hastings Law School, where he served on the Hastings Law Journal, and his B.A. from Brown University.
Michelle Hunsberger is a Senior Account Executive at Fenton, where she provides project management and strategic counsel with a specific concentration in global development. With experience in public relations and behavior change communication, Michelle creates thought-provoking campaigns that motivate audiences to make positive changes in their lives. A true product of her multicultural upbringing in Asia, Africa and Europe, Michelle brings a unique perspective on the role communication interventions play in reinforcing and challenging cultural norms.
Myrna Chua-Miguel is the Accountant at Fenton, where she is responsible for Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable and other accounting duties related to Fenton’s general operations, reporting to the Chief Financial Officer. She has experience managing a wide variety of accounting information systems and is committed to operations efficiencies that increase accuracy and drive productivity. In her free time, she takes her two children for a long walk and explore places.
Ryan Cassidy is a Senior Art Director at Fenton and brings many years of design experience working with major brands to his role at Fenton. He strives to bring a sense of simplicity, clarity, and authenticity to every project by looking for inspiration inside the world around him. When he’s not working on projects for the good of humanity by making things look awesome, he performs with an art/activism group and makes bundt cakes. He currently lives in Brooklyn with his partner and their collection of fashionable eyewear.
With a marketing and communications career spanning nearly 25 years, Valarie De La Garza is a highly skilled strategist, writer, engaging presenter and team builder with expertise in marketing, media relations, community outreach and public affairs. Valarie has worked for boutique, mid-sized and global PR agencies, including The Rogers Group (now Finn Partners), MS&LGROUP and her own successful consultancy, De La Garza PR. She led communications and marketing efforts for Big Brothers Big Sisters of America Latino and the California Community Foundation, one of the largest and most prestigious community foundations in the country.
