Fenton – the leading social impact communications firm – seeks an experienced executive assistant who will be responsible for supporting executive leadership including the CEO in the New York office. A Fellow is responsible for assisting account staff with various media, administrative and research activities. Essential responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Monitoring news media coverage and social media and analyzing results
  • Utilizing online metrics tools to report on statistics for websites, social media sites, email campaigns and online advertising
  • Conducting research on various issues, campaigns and organizations
  • Researching relevant journalists for targeted pitches and build media lists
  • Conducting stakeholder interviews
  • Crafting targeted pitch emails and making pitch calls
  • Drafting press materials and online content
  • Developing presentations and designing materials using a number of digital tools, such as PowerPoint, InDesign, or Photoshop
  • Copyediting
  • Joining meetings and taking notes
  • Taking part in and leading creative brainstorm sessions
  • Sharing cool finds about media, issues or the web that can help improve our work

The Fellowship begins on January 2015 and runs through May 2015. This is a paid Fellowship.

Fenton is seeking a Vice President/Senior Vice President in our Washington, DC office. We are looking for a strategic thinker with top media connections who understands what it takes to run winning issue campaigns. One of the leading public-interest communications firms in the country, Fenton has offices in Washington, DC, New York, San Francisco and Los Angeles. We develop and execute strategic communications campaigns that make a difference for social justice, the environment, health and other issues in the public interest.

Our office works on projects that involve media relations, branding, communications planning and digital media development. The Vice President/Senior Vice President also is responsible for extensive project, budget and staff management. Candidate preferably will have strong environmental media and business contacts in the environmental community as well as expertise in politics, social justice and other progressive issues. Essential responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Conducting strategic planning for organizations and issue movements
  • Writing new business proposals, strategy documents, communications plans and other
    client-ready materials
  • Overseeing the development of strategy documents, communications plans, and campaign  plans
  • Leading branding processes for clients
  • Managing client budgets and work plans to ensure profitability
  • Coordinating online and offline campaigns and strategies
  • Leading new-business pitches and proposals
  • Managing and supervising job teams and individual staff
  • Participating in meetings with DC senior staff on organizational goals, growth, and vision

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in public relations, communications, advertising or other applicable field or demonstrated equivalent experience
  • Ten+ years experience in public-interest communications, or demonstrated equivalent experience, with preference for political, advocacy or agency experience (Please specifically show this level of experience in your résumé and cover letter.)
  • Five+ years demonstrated staff management and mentoring experience, including direct management of staff at varying career levels (Please specifically describe this level of experience in your resume or cover letter.)
  • Demonstrated issue expertise in one or more of Fenton’s issue areas
  • Experience in public relations, including firm understanding of client billing processes, client contracts and client service
  • Demonstrated ability to manage client accounts and budgets
  • Well-established network of new business leads and contacts

Supervision:  The VP/SVP reports directly to the Managing Director in the Washington, DC office.
