What we’re looking for: A talented, imaginative, and passionate digital professional to join the Fenton team. The ideal Digital Account Executive (AE) candidate has at least three years of experience in online advocacy, campaign management, digital advertising, and/or community building.

What you’ll do at Fenton:

  • Implement high-impact digital campaigns across social channels, digital advertising platforms, online influencers, email and websites
  • Utilize industry-standard web tools to research, analyze online statistics, to conduct communications audits, and to optimize project performance through data-driven decision making
  • Collaborate with cross-office and cross-disciplinary teams to help ensure agency excellence on behalf of multiple clients
  • Audit, monitor, manage, and analyze clients’ online and social media properties including helping create smart, platform-appropriate content
  • Work with web production teams to support development of websites and train clients in CMS
  • Build clients’ capacity to smartly manage their own online and social media properties
  • Lay out presentations, proofread/copyedit documents, and own timelines for key deliverables
  • Participate on new-business pitch teams for prospective clients, funders and other potential partners or allies

Qualifications:

In addition to approximately three years of experience in digital agency, advertising agency, PR/brand agency, public interest advocacy, or demonstrated equivalent experience, with preference for experience at an agency, we are looking for candidates with strong track record of:

  • Executing executing a variety of digital campaigns, from research to implementation
  • Supporting the production and design of digital content, managing online communities and promote campaign priorities and achieve campaign goals
  • Researching/assessing/measuring online conversations and the effectiveness of digital campaigns using web analytics tools like Sysomos, Nuvi, SproutSocial, Facebook Analytics and others; converting these analytics in to actionable insights
  • Working with social media platforms/tools, and successful online advocacy campaigns that maximize them
  • Articulating and presenting your ideas in team meetings

The ideal Senior Account Executive candidate has 3 to 5 years of experience in managing and delivering website projects from inception to completion, omni-channel campaigns, social content, and/or digital paid media. You are:

  • An expert in managing integrated, data-driven digital campaigns, including social media, website development, email advocacy outreach and paid media (social and digital display)
  • Comfortable managing multiple concurrent projects and cross-functional team members via web-based project management software
  • Proactive, have excellent communication and problem-solving skills, and are confident in your ability to meticulously organize and keep your projects moving forward from the front lines, keeping all stakeholders up to date with progress and overcoming any of the inevitable hurdles along the way
  • An individual with excellent interpersonal, negotiation and communications skills with tenacity to solve clients’ problems quickly and to provide them with excellent service

What you’ll do at Fenton:

  • Oversee and direct multiple projects at a time (within a given brand or client or potentially across multiple brands or clients) or a singular, large scale or highly complex project, and ensuring that these projects meet or exceed internal team and client expectations and are delivered on-time and on-budget
  • Provide the structure and support the overall vision for assigned projects  (e.g. web development, advertising, media, strategy, technology, etc)
  • Within that role the senior project manager will likely be responsible for supervising one or more junior staff assigned to the account
  • Interface heavily with senior marketing, technical and executive management within the client team to assure that the goal is understood and addresses the customer’s business requirements.
  • Ensure that the challenge and requirements are understood by the account team and will participate in the solution developed by the team
  • Responsible for the accurate financial management of the portfolio of projects to which they’re assigned
  • Oversee all aspects of projects: scope, risk, schedule, budget, quality and communication to stakeholders’ fullest satisfaction
  • Lead internal and external status meetings effectively; capture, store and distribute meeting notes
  • Evaluate new work requests, identify resources needed, assign individual responsibilities, and schedule action items
  • Provide regular updates and progress reports to internal teams and/or client stakeholders
  • Act as point of escalation internally and with the client for all issues, bug reports and change orders
  • Review all work before delivering to client; coordinate internal reviews and implementation related QA efforts
  • Keep track of lessons learned and share with internal and external team members
  • Suggest areas for improvement in internal and external processes along with possible solutions

Qualifications:

In addition to 3-5 years of experience in digital work or demonstrated equivalent experience, with preference for experience at a digital, PR, marketing or brand agency, we are looking for candidates with strong track record of:

  • Advanced knowledge of one or more of the following: website project life cycles, web technologies, delivery of solutions with creative and development components, media and advertising projects, digital strategy projects
  • Advanced understanding of project management methodology including the ability to identify and resolve issues, manage risk, develop detailed work plans and specifications, perform resource allocations and run team meetings
  • Ability to work on multiple projects and manage multiple project coordinators, leads and/or managers at one time
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate staff/project team, inspire teamwork and take a leadership role
  • Ability to solve complex problems with keen instincts and organizational experience

New York

The Senior Account Executive (SAE) is a significant contributor to client accounts and has a wide-range of management, editorial and creative responsibilities. Essential responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Client Relations (70%):

  • Developing and executing advanced public relations tactics, including:
    • Overseeing media campaigns and contributing to strategic planning for clients
    • Pitching high level reports, editors, producers, and columnists
    • Writing, editing and reviewing press releases, fact sheets, op-eds and other press materials
    • Organizing and staffing press events and editorial board visits
    • Serving as primary client contact for small to mid-level accounts
    • Developing client strategy with senior staff
    • Assisting in managing pieces of large accounts and may lead on smaller accounts as assigned
    • Managing client and funder relations
    • Providing weekly status reports to client, including budget updates
    • Contributing to proposal writing and strategy memos

Billing Requirements/Budgeting (10%):

  • Meeting or exceeding 32 billable hours per week
  • Alerting supervisors early each week of any obstacles to meeting weekly billable target
  • Managing client budgets for profitability for preventing overages
  • Anticipating and alerting VP/SVP of potential account budget issues
  • Projecting hours for staff working on assigned accounts
  • Providing budget projections to VP of Administration for weekly financial meetings

 New Business Development (10%):

  • Participating in new business pitches as assigned
  • Developing and contributing minimum of two new business ideas per quarter

 Staff Development/Firm Management (10%):

  • Training and mentoring Account Executives and Account Coordinators
  • Delegating appropriate tasks to Account Executives, Account Coordinators and support staff in a clean and collaborative manner
  • Acting as a model of good citizenship
  • Attend regular staff and team meetings – providing input and feedback on business improvement, including client service staff development, and office procedures

 Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Minimum Bachelors’ degree in Public Relations, Communications, Advertising, Political Science, English or related field
  • 3-5 years’ experience in public interest advocacy, campaigns or public affairs PR
  • Demonstrated knowledge of standards, principles, and techniques of public relations, communications and social activism

Washington D. C.

The Vice President (VP) plays a leadership role in the office, leads a variety of social change accounts ranging in topic matter from education and health, to climate change, CSR, and human rights. The VP also plays a pivotal role in new business activities, working with Senior Vice Presidents (SVP) and Managing Directors (MD) on new business development leads. Essential responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Client Relations (55%):

  • Taking a leadership role in a practice area, such a public health or the environment, from project oversight to new business
  • Managing senior level client relationships and acting as counsel on strategic planning, positioning, messaging and all communications programming
  • Ensuring that work produced by project team is of the highest quality and meets deadlines
  • Providing day-to-day oversight of multiple large accounts including scoping, strategic counsel, quality control, and evaluation of account progress and client satisfaction
  • Ensuring that assigned clients receive regular status reports and budget updates
  • Writing contacts, grant proposals, high level strategy memos, and work plans
  • Overseeing the development of strategy documents, communication plans, memos, press kits, and other collaterals by staff
  • Pitching key reporters, prospective funders, and potential allies
  • Conducting media trainings for clients and other spokespeople
  • Advising on a range of public interest media campaigns

Billing Requirements/Budgeting (5%):

  • Managing client budgets for profitability and preventing overages
  • Ensuring direct reports meet or exceed weekly billings requirements
  • Providing budget projections to VP of Administration for weekly financial meetings

New Business Development (30%):

  • Pitching and securing new business, focusing on potential clients who share Fenton’s progressive social perspective and commitment to sound environmental practices
  • Meeting revenue goals established in advance with Managing Director
  • Developing and directing new business pitches
  • Piloting relationships with prospective clients 

Staff Development/Firm Management (10%):

  • Managing job teams and supervising/mentoring individual staff
  • Assuming an office-wide role in training and mentoring staff; coaching and counseling employees including managing their overall development
  • Participating in regular strategy meetings with senior staff on organizational goals, growth and vision
  • Attending staff/job team meetings and providing input and feedback on business, including client service, staff development, and office procedures
  • Maintaining effective and efficient office structure through proper selection processes and coordination with Human Resources

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Minimum Bachelors’ degree in Public Relations, Communications, Advertising, Political Science, English or related field
  • 7-10 years experience in public interest advocacy, or demonstrated equivalent experience in advocacy/political public relations
  • Strong project management skills
  • Demonstrated issue expertise in one or more of Fenton’s issue areas (Education, Health, Human Rights, Climate/Energy/Environment, CSR), and is also eager to working on clients in new issue areas
  • Experience in a public relations or advertising agency highly desirable; firm understanding of client billing process, client contracts and customer service
  • Demonstrated ability to manage client account and budgets
  • Demonstrated business development and public networking skills
  • Demonstrated ability to write proposals, pitch, and land new business
  • 5-7 years’ staff management and mentoring experience, including direct management of a staff of 2+ individuals at varying careers levels

A Fellow is responsible for assisting account staff with various media, administrative and research activities. Essential responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

·       Monitoring news media coverage and social media and analyzing results

·       Utilizing online metrics tools to report on statistics for websites, social media sites, email campaigns and online advertising

·       Conducting research on various issues, campaigns and organizations

·       Researching relevant journalists for targeted pitches and build media lists

·       Conducting stakeholder interviews

·       Crafting targeted pitch emails and making pitch calls

·       Drafting press materials and online content

·       Developing presentations and designing materials using a number of digital tools, such as PowerPoint, InDesign, or Photoshop

·       Copyediting

·       Joining meetings and taking notes
