We are looking for a creative and agile marketing manager to assist our social impact communications firm build our profile and spread the word about our best-in-class services. The marketing manager will be the primary steward for the Fenton brand, voice and thought leadership platform and is expected to quickly become entrenched with the public interest communications field, and, more broadly, today’s creative agency and communications industries. What we’re looking for: An experienced executive assistant who will be responsible for supporting executive leadership including the Managing Director in the San Francisco office. The SF office focuses on issue advocacy campaigns, branding, messaging and engagement programs for non-profits, communications support for foundations, corporate social responsibility initiatives and cause marketing campaigns. Essential AD Skills: 

  • Providing strategic guidance and day-to-day management for assigned client accounts, including junior staff supervision, oversight of work flow,  product quality and budget
  • Developing and managing workplans for existing clients
  • Serving as a “traffic cop” to manage multiple account deliverables, and provide oversight of team members
  • Ensuring the delivery of quality products for clients and adherence to workplan deadlines

Qualifications

  • Seven-plus years of experience in public interest advocacy/PR, strategic communication/campaign development or demonstrated equivalent experience,
  • Experience with planning and executing multimedia advertising and/or public awareness campaigns
  • Experience working on issue advocacy campaigns
  • Experience working with private foundations, nonprofit organizations, and/or public sector (government) agencies
  • Extensive knowledge of print and electronic media
  • Experience managing project budgets
  • Experience mentoring or managing staff
  • Strong writing skills to develop media and collateral materials
  • Demonstrated ability to manage client accounts and to design long-term creative communications campaigns
  • Experience developing network of contacts in a range of areas including business, politics, health, environment , education, etc.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Lexis-Nexis, as well as internet research skills
  • Ability to juggle multiple tasks under tight deadlines and meet schedules and assigned tasks in a timely manner
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in written format

What we’re looking for: A communications savvy Account Executive with a passion for making social change to join Fenton’s fast-paced and creative Los Angeles team. The AE has 3-4 years of experience in project support, research, media relations and social media campaigns in public interest advocacy or Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) communications setting, or demonstrated equivalent experience and ideally agency experience.

The AE’s primary role is to help develop and execute online and offline communications tactics. AE’s support their account teams, run parts of larger accounts and occasionally lead on smaller accounts.

What you’ll do at Fenton:

  • Monitor news media and social media; compile summaries of coverage
  • Pitch all levels of reporters, editors, producers, bloggers
  • Oversee production of media lists
  • Conduct research on issue areas, online communities, media markets and new business prospects
  • Manage social media implementation and community management
  • Organize logistics and staff press conferences and other events
  • Write press releases, advisories, pitch memos, fact sheets, op-eds, online content and other collateral
  • Social media content creation and implementation on Facebook and Twitter
  • Utilize common web tools to help build-out and implement online campaigns
  • Utilize tools like Google Analytics to develop benchmarks and then analyze and report on stats for websites, social media sites, e-mail campaigns and online advertising
  • Online copy writing and marketing support
  • Conduct communications audits using Google, Lexis-Nexis, Radian6 and other Internet tools
  • Create client and external correspondence
  • Manage projects, like graphic design, web development, or printing, and working with vendors
  • Lead landscape and competitive analysis research projects; gather insights to form campaigns and communications strategies.
  • Support communications capacity building and training for clients
  • Provide input on strategies and tactics for communications campaigns and online marketing or advocacy outreach

  • Conducted daily media monitoring for two of your accounts- one seeking news about health disparities among people of color and the other finding media hits about the intersection of LGBT and faith issues.
  • Finalized a competitive analysis report for an early childhood development organization, a project on which you led the research, secured the print vendor for the print report, and picked up the printed copies from the vendor.
  • Presented the report at the client’s headquarters in downtown Los Angeles.
  • Participated in a brainstorm for an online campaign promoting the availability of free electric vehicle charging stations for workplaces.
  • Conducted research to inform a proposal to work with a prospective renewable energy client.
  • Finalized web content for a dating violence prevention toolkit site, and sent video clip recommendations to the video team for the new site, after watching an hour or so of raw interview footage.
  • Drafted press materials to help a client launch their new free summer youth program.
  • Pitched media outlets with a press release about efforts to project California wildlife during the drought.
  • Interviewed a youth participant of a client’s programs to draft copy for an annual report.
  • Wrote Facebook content for a Foundation highlighting grantee stories.
