Fenton set to help Prize winner build relationships in US

SAN FRANCISCO: Fenton Communications is helping the first African woman to win the Nobel Peace Prize to build relationships with influencers in the US. Professor Wangari Maathai won the coveted award for founding the Green Belt Movement, a 27-year-old effort that encourages poor women to help the environment by planting trees. “She connects environmental issues to women's issues,” said Daniel Silverman, SVP at Fenton. “She's very compelling when she talks about those issues. We want to help her deliver the message here.” Fenton will organize interviews and help plan public events around Maathai's two visits to the US. The agency also will connect her with key US environmental leaders. The Marion Institute, which does US fundraising for Maathai, arranged the PR help.
