LIZ LONDON
  SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT

Senior Vice President Liz London has more than 20 years of experience in politics, not-for-profit and government work. Most recently, she was the director of development for the Children's Museum of Manhattan, where she built support for museum programs for indigent families and developed partnerships between foundations, businesses and government agencies for the institution's exhibitions and programs.

From 1995 to 2003, London served as assistant executive director for program design and director of development and public information at Phipps Houses/Phipps CDC, one of New York City's oldest and largest not-for-profit affordable housing developers. At Phipps, she developed strategic fundraising and communications plans to grow the organization's social services affiliate and helped create transportation, job training, college preparation after school, Head Start, and family literacy programs. During that time London also served as chair of the fundraising committee to build an innovative Web site hosted by the Milano School of Public Service for nonprofit organizations and managers.

Prior to that London was the community relations director for the New York Metropolitan Transportation Authority's Bridges and Tunnels, where she established a speaker's bureau and worked closely with elected officials around the city and in Albany. She was the New York staff director for Rep. Ted Weiss for four years, representing him on an array of health care, arts and culture, intergovernmental and constituent services issues. She also worked in the office of Mayor Edward I. Koch as a speechwriter and assistant to the first deputy mayor focusing primarily on health care, transportation and labor policies.

London's career began at BusinessWeek magazine, as a project coordinator for special advertising sections. She holds a master's degree from Columbia University's School of International and Public Affairs and received her bachelor's in political science and oriental studies from the University of Pennsylvania.
