Namju Cho brings nearly 20 years of experience of working with the private, public and nonprofit sectors with a focus on storytelling and behavior change. Raised everywhere and a journalist by training, she has advocated for human trafficking survivors, fostered philanthropy and helped residents adopt sustainable behaviors by using principles of social marketing. In her spare time, Namju gives Korean cooking classes and goes hunting for the best burger in town.

Fay Li is an Account Director at Fenton. She joined the San Francisco office in 2018 to oversee media relations and service a diverse range of clients to help them achieve communications priorities as well as broader business goals through developing and executing branding, messaging and media strategies. She comes to Fenton with more than seven years of experience working in television newsrooms as an anchor, reporter and producer and as the chief editor of a Silicon Valley media technology startup. Fay received her B.A. in Broadcast Journalism from the University of Southern California's Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism, and is a current MBA candidate at UC Berkeley Haas’ evening weekend program. She was born in China and raised in Sydney, Australia though you probably won’t be able to tell since she’s (sadly) lost her Aussie accent. In her spare time, she can be found in a yoga class or exploring wine country with her husband.

Joselin Salazar is an Account Executive on the Fenton Digital team based out of the San Francisco office. She currently helps clients, such as Carton Council and Cedar Sinai Accelerator, by implementing digital campaigns that create positive change and inspire movements. Prior to joining Fenton in January 2018, Joselin was an Associate at Hill and Knowlton Strategies where she provided strategic communications, social media and public relations support for a variety of different sectors such as technology, healthcare and sustainability — clients included Target, AT&T and Dolby Laboratories. Passionate for change, Joselin is currently part of the board of executives for the Association of Latino Professionals for America in the Bay Area and a mentor for Big Brother Big Sister - both efforts focused in growing awareness and giving back to the greater Latino community. She graduated from the University of Houston with a bachelor's degree in Corporate Communications with a focus in Global and Spanish Business in December 2013.

Kiva is SVP and Managing Director of Fenton's corporate division, Actio. She leads companies and brands in co-creating breakthrough platforms and programs designed to simultaneously drive the business, while positively impacting society and the environment. Kiva is an accomplished strategist with nearly 15 years of experience in corporate responsibility (CR) strategy, sustainability communications, purpose-inspired brand building, employee engagement, cause marketing and influencer engagement across a variety of industries and issues. Previously she served as Vice President at Cone Communications, leading the agencies CR and sustainability work for a variety of Fortune 100 companies. There, Kiva developed and activated innovative and differentiating platforms and programs for UPS, Visa, The Walt Disney Company, Angies BOOMCHICKAPOP, Boppy and Ironwood Pharmaceuticals. Before Cone Communications, Kiva served as Vice President and Global Practice Director of Corporate Citizenship at MSLGROUP. She was instrumental in developing and implementing Corporate Citizenship as a new global practice and a successful business avenue for the agency. Additionally, she developed and activated a wide range of platforms for both companies and nonprofits, including: PayPal, Powering Giving; Kellogg's global purpose-inspired hunger platform, Breakfast for Better Days; Deloitte's CR communications and thought leadership; The Boys & Girls Clubs of America's Great Futures campaign; MDA Live Unlimited; national and local fundraising and affiliate engagement for the March of Dimes. Kiva holds a global MBA in International Marketing from Suffolk University, serves on the board of the nature-based Harpswell Community Nursery School and is a mother to two wild little children, Bearson and Abinaya.

A veteran of digital, Tien is the resident account strategic support at Fenton. Her experience in agency-side solutions delivery, client-side marketing, and nonprofit program management allow her to precisely service Fenton’s diverse client roster, and her attention to detail ensures agency projects are delivered flawlessly, on time and on budget. Tien has spent the past 4+ years abroad developing and executing assistance program for refugees in Thailand and leading AdWords/Analytics efforts at Google Singapore for SMBs. At Fenton, she merges her two previous life at a critical juncture: supporting advocacy efforts online for progressive nonprofits and foundations with innovative digital solutions. Her client roster list includes, but is not limited to: Silicon Valley Community Foundation, W.K. Kellogg Foundation, and Joyce Foundation. From paid digital campaigns to UX design, she develops effective and thoughtful tactical and long-term strategies.

Taylor Tringali is an Account Coordinator at Fenton, where she utilizes her previous communications skills to implement strategies that make lasting change with clients that range from education to reproductive justice. Taylor supports the account teams in many ways to execute strategies that move the needle on issues she cares about most. Taylor’s goal has always been to work toward social change. Her prior experience with frank, a resource for strategic communicators, and Alliance for the Arts led to her position at Fenton. Her clients include Cycle for Survival, DonorsChoose.org, Wiki Education, and more. Taylor graduated summa cum laude from the University of Florida with a degree in sociology and a minor in mass communications.

Emily Rudder is a Digital Account Coordinator in Fenton’s New York office. She combines her passion for advocacy and digital strategy to create lasting social change. Emily implements and executes paid digital advertising campaigns to produce the greatest reach and influence in the digital space. Her clients include the Joyce Foundation, the Carton Council, and Johnson & Johnson. Prior to Fenton, Emily worked for a nonprofit communications agency, executing email marketing campaigns and writing social copy. She also worked at a variety of nonprofits across the country working to advance environmental justice and refugee rights. Emily received a B.A. in Urban Studies from Brown University.

She spends much of her spare time thinking about dogs, learning to create games, and volunteering at local queer events.

Kendall Coffee is an Account Associate at Fenton, where she has worked out of the San Francisco office since October 2017. She conducts research, provides campaign support and manages administrative duties for the office. A digital native, Tom is an Account Director at Fenton. An activist with experience in managing grassroots campaigns, non-profit media planning, and progressive politics, Tom has a unique skillset that allows him to bring a data-driven approach to his work at Fenton. Tom began his digital work in 2009 working on a contract basis to build a social/email program for the healthcare blog TheDoctorsChannel.com, but cut his teeth in earnest as Deputy Digital Director for the Reshma Saujani campaign for NYC Public Advocate in 2013. He then joined the team at Global Citizen as Lead Editor of GlobalCitizen.org and before transitioning to a role managing one of the largest email program’s in the sector. Immediately before he joined the team at Fenton, he served as Digital Director at Families for Excellent Schools and implemented a results-oriented digital program that more than quadrupled conversions across the organizations various campaigns. His experience in paid advertising, email acquisition and program management, as well as crafting razor-sharp digital messaging make him an asset to the team, but his real passion lies in grassroots political organizing. As a member of organizations such as Act Up NY, he appreciates the limits of digital tactics and knows when it’s most effective to drop the keyboard and pick up a protest sign. Above all, Tom is an eccentric. After spending two years abroad while in college, he maintains a passion for travel, adventure, and food. Outside of the office, you’re likely to find him plotting his next trip over a glass of natural wine and a wheel of reeking cheese.

Kate Uyeda is an Account Coordinator at Fenton, where she has worked to support the DC Office in administrative and programmatic capacities since January 2017. As an Account Coordinator, she assists in day-to-day client support, especially in media relations, research and messaging. Prior to joining Fenton, Kate worked as a Field Organizer for Hillary for America in Cleveland, Ohio. She has also interned with Human Rights Watch and worked as a campus organizer for CALPIRG, where she gained experience in social media, campaign messaging, donor outreach, and print and radio news. Kate holds Bachelor’s degrees in Political Science and Environmental Studies from the University of California, Berkeley.

Laura Dawn is Senior Creative Consultant for Fenton. She provides creative campaign ideation, strategy, and executes high level cultural campaigns for Fenton clients.

A cultural political strategist, writer, director, and producer of social justice media, events, and campaigns with over 500 million online views of her work, Laura Dawn was the founding Cultural & Creative Director of MoveOn.org (2003 - 2011) and Founder and Chief Creative of award winning cultural strategy agency ART NOT WAR. Laura has spent the last 15 years directing groundbreaking cultural campaigns and making high impact media. She has written & directed over 100 online videos and mini-docs in the past 2 years, served as producer and creative director for over 500 media pieces, produced 2 feature length documentaries, over 20 high profile multi-media events and won 11 Pollies for her work.  She has extensive experience in digital & communication strategy, producing over 1 billion dollars of earned media for social justice campaigns. Laura is also the founder of feminist media group Humanity for Progress (formerly Humanity for Hillary, which reached an audience of 275 million in the last three months before the election) which reaches over 600,000 progressive women monthly online, and serves on the Advisory Boards of The Climate Mobilization and Deep State, a progressive training camp for artists and activists.

Laura brings deep expertise in video creation, artist outreach, branding, earned media and digital strategy. In 2004 Laura created the first user generated political ad contest, “Bush in 30 Seconds”, and has led numerous creative campaigns featuring user generated content to great success.

Bryan Miller is the San Francisco Managing Director at Fenton. He leads Fenton’s Bay Area office, and serves as a member of the agency's Executive Team.

Bryan works with clients across a variety of sectors on progressive communications issues including: corporate responsibility, environment and energy, legislative and regulatory affairs, and health and lifestyle brands.

He previously was the Principal of Diablo Advocacy, a national public affairs firm that combined its practice with Fenton in 2017. From 2013-2016, Bryan served as Senior Vice President of Public Policy & Power Markets at Sunrun and President of The Alliance for Solar Choice, where he managed the solar industry’s advocacy across the country. During his time at Sunrun, Miller led the solar industry to a 98% win rate in regulatory verdicts against the largest fossil fuel companies in America.

One of the nation’s leading political journalists wrote that his “mastery of public relations and guerilla tactics is awe-inspiring.” Fortune detailed how he is “radically changing” public affairs through technology. His work has been covered extensively in dozens of international, national, state, and local media outlets.

He is a principal subject of Emmy® award-winning documentary series Years of Living Dangerously, Season 2, Episode 1. Bryan has served the only two Democratic Presidents of his adult life. He was appointed by President Obama to serve as Senior Counsel at the United States Department of Energy where he advised senior White House officials and managed implementation of multi-billion dollar clean tech legislation. From 1995-1996, he was the youngest employee of President Clinton’s reelection campaign where he worked as a fundraiser and grassroots organizer.

On winter weekends Bryan is usually the oldest snowboarder in Tahoe’s terrain parks, where mountain gear camouflages him amidst far more athletic 17 year olds. In summers, he and his wife can be found dragging their teen daughters with them to Sonoma wineries against their will.

Zain Habboo is a Chief Digital Officer at Fenton. She brings with her 20 years of creative, diplomatic and social impact experience from her prior work at National Geographic and the United Nations Foundation. Before joining Fenton, Zain was Senior Director of digital and multimedia strategy at the UN Foundation, where she coordinated digital, video, photo, and mobile strategies across the organization. During her time at the UN Foundation, there were many groundbreaking accomplishments, including viral memes (the #unselfie) and social media innovations (#Instacorps), as well as global convergences such as the Social Good Summit, digital surge days, and much more. Zain won several accolades from PR News: for her social media team and Instagram communications in 2016, and digital PR team of the year in 2014 and 2001. She was also awarded a New York Women in Communications honor in 2014 and a SABRE award for #GivingTuesday in 2014. Zain was born in Iraq, raised in Jordan, and educated in the U.K., and brings a much-valued global approach and cultural understanding to her work. Zain serves on the Scientific Advisory Committee for Pediatric Oncology Research at Children’s Hospital in Washington D.C. and also serves as a board member at the Starlight Foundation, the Yume Foundation and the Petra National Foundation. Zain was recently added to the UN Foundation’s “Girl Up” campaign’s Advisory Committee. Zain is fluent in Arabic and has worked with organizations around the world on issues ranging from girls’ and women’s empowerment to climate change.

Ben Wyskida is an accomplished political strategist and communications expert, with nearly 20 years of experience working for progressive social change. Since 2017 he has been the CEO of Fenton. He previously served as an Executive Vice President at BerlinRosen Public Affairs, where he built the firm’s Philanthropy and Cultural Activism practice. There, Ben counseled many of the nation’s leading foundations and advocacy organizations on messaging and communications strategy. Before BerlinRosen, Ben was with The Atlantic Philanthropies, where he developed capacity-building programs and provided crisis communications support for a portfolio of grantees working on health care reform, immigration and social security. Ben has led communications for The Ella Baker Center for Human Rights and The Nation Magazine. He began his career as an organizer for Sierra Club, winning a long-shot campaign to preserve more than 6,000 acres of pristine Maryland wilderness. Ben brings to Fenton deep expertise in criminal justice reform, sustainability, human rights and public interest law. He has been a leader in “media for media” communications for investigative journalism non-profits, and in developing impact campaigns for filmmakers and authors working for social change. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Stonewall Community Foundation and lives on New York City’s Lower East Side with his partner, composer Nico Muhly, and their dog Óskar.

Eric Hollister Williams, a Vice President at Fenton, has dedicated his career to advancing policies to address social inequality and injustice. He has an extensive background in advocacy, strategic communications, foreign policy, global heath and international development. At Fenton, he specializes in traditional and earned media with an issue focus on public lands, global health, human rights and child welfare. Most recently, Eric served as a Special Projects Director for the Ohio Democratic Party as part of Hillary for America. Before that, Eric was a senior director at williamsworks, where he advised and led accounts for Eastern Congo Initiative, Glamour (The Girl Project), TOMS, Gatorade, Starkey Hearing Foundation, Save the Children, among others. From 2011 to 2014, Eric served as the Democratic Staff Director for the House Subcommittee on Africa and was a foreign policy aid for Rep. Karen Bass (D-CA). From 2000 to 2003, Eric worked at the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Eric is a graduate of Bowdoin College and received a master’s from Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health.

Karen is Fenton’s Chief Strategy Officer. With over 30 years of experience in communications, Karen has worked primarily on behalf of low-income neighborhoods across the country by promoting community and economic development initiatives. Before joining Fenton, she was the Press Secretary for NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio, the first Mayor in the nation to require market-rate developers to build affordable housing in exchange for tax breaks. From 2000 to 2015, she was President of her own company, Hinton Communications, a public relations firm with offices in Washington, DC, and New York City. Her company provided strategic communications services, media relations, media training and event planning services to mostly non-profit and government clients. Its expertise was in promoting advocacy issues through the news media and media-related events. Her clients included the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, the U.S. Department of Labor and the General Services Administration. She represented the Merchants Payments Coalition, the U.S. Conference of Mayors, the National Realtors Association, Enterprise, LISC, the Amazon Defense Coalition, New American Schools and many other nonprofits that focus on affordable housing, education and the environment. Karen worked in Democratic policies and on Capitol Hill for 14 years.  At the Democratic National Committee, she was a press aide to former White House Press Secretary Mike McCurry and the late Ron Brown, former DNC Chair and U.S. Secretary of Commerce in the first Clinton Administration. During the Clinton Administration, she served as Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development for former HUD Secretary Andrew Cuomo. Before that, she was Secretary Cuomo’s Senior Advisor for Communications. In that role, Karen became well versed in community and economic development policies and programs at all levels of government. Earlier, she worked as Press Secretary for former U.S. Congressman and Agriculture Secretary Mike Espy. With Espy, she learned the ends and outs of Capitol Hill and, as Director of Marketing/Communications for the D.C. Public School System, she experienced firsthand the challenges of a big-city school system. Immediately after graduation from the University of Mississippi, where she majored in Political Science and Journalism, Karen was a reporter, covering City Hall and statewide politics for the Jackson Daily News in Jackson, Mississippi, and then later a general assignment reporter for the Rocky Mountain News in Denver, Colorado. Karen left the news business to work in political campaigns but she still suffers from the journalism bug.

Mala Persaud is a Vice President at Fenton where she manages and leads a diverse portfolio of domestic and international clients. Committed to telling the stories that matter, she brings more than 20 years of experience as a broadcast journalist and public relations consultant and has firsthand knowledge of international media markets, having lived and worked in the United States, United Kingdom and Europe. Mala provides strategic communications consulting, media relations expertise, media training and project management across a number of global health and development accounts, including Johnson & Johnson and the US Green Building Council. Mala has a Bachelor’s degree in Communications and French from Penn State University.

David Fenton, named “one of the 100 most influential P.R. people” by PR Week and “the Robin Hood of public relations” by The National Journal, founded Fenton in 1982 to create communications campaigns for the environment, public health and human rights. Over four decades he has pioneered the use of PR, social media and advertising techniques for social change. FENTON has 60 employees in four offices – New York, Washington, Los Angeles and San Francisco. Some of Fenton’s best-known campaigns include aiding the rise of MoveOn.org, stimulating the rise in organic food sales, a decade representing Nelson Mandela and the African National Congress, passing sanctions against apartheid, saving swordfish from extinction with a coalition of top chefs, working with Al Gore and the United Nations on climate change, public health campaigns against tobacco and endocrine-disrupting chemicals, publicizing the nation’s first gay marriages, keeping hard-liquor ads off broadcast television, the founding of Business for Social Responsibility and many others. David and the firm have also worked with governments and international NGOs in Africa, Israel, Europe, Japan, Latin America and the Caribbean. David is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. David has helped incubate and launch a series of non-profit organizations, including the pro-peace, pro-Israel group J Street, Climate Nexus, the Death Penalty Information Center, the Central America Media Project, the Southern Africa Media Project, New Economy Communications, Environmental Media Services (which later became Resource Media), and the American Freedom campaign against the abuse of executive power. Fenton started his career as a photojournalist in the late 1960s – his book “Shots: An American Photographer’s Journal” was published in 2005. He was formerly Director of Public Relations at Rolling Stone magazine and Co-Producer of the No-Nukes concerts in 1979 at Madison Square Garden with Bruce Springsteen, Bonnie Raitt, James Taylor, Jackson Browne and other artists. David is a native of Manhattan where he lives with his wife and two teenagers.

Chief of Advocacy Campaigns

Ira Arlook is Fenton’s Chief of Advocacy Campaigns. He’s led Fenton’s work on campaigns for organizations battling sweatshops abroad, the invasion of Iraq, support of President Obama’s nuclear deal with Iran, an end to toxic diesel emissions from container trucks serving all of America’s sea and inland ports, and many others. Prior to joining Fenton, Ira worked in the nonprofit sector for more than two decades, with a strong emphasis on issues of social and economic justice. He serves on the board of the Public Defender Service of Washington, DC.

Jennifer Hahn is the Managing Director of Fenton’s NYC office. With a strategic mind and an activist’s heart, she harnesses issue framing, messaging, media advocacy and public engagement to advance her client’s progressive goals. From strategic planning to CEO speechwriting, campaign management to opinion research, Jennifer is consigliere to nonprofits and foundations. She is also an expert presentation, speech and media trainer who is passionately committed to ensuring her clients’ success.

He has founded, invested in or led companies in many different industries through periods of intense growth and development. James is presently focused on building successful businesses in the digital media and communication sectors. Notable current holdings include Collegium, a rapidly growing professional services holding company and Honor Capital, a leader in the specialty finance/insurance industry. He co-founded Watershed Company and 3BL Media and served as senior advisor to Donor Trends and True Givers. James received his MBA from Harvard and is a non-practicing CPA and former investment banker. He is a regular speaker/panelist at industry conferences and has been published, quoted and interviewed on: CNN, Wall Street Journal, Forbes, New York Times, Fortune, Red Herring, Financial Times, Ad Week and other leading publications. James currently resides in Westchester with his wife and three daughters.
