Account Coordinator – San Francisco Office
Fenton, a leading public-interest communications firm with offices in San Francisco, Washington, D.C., New York, and Los Angeles, is seeking an Account Coordinator in our San Francisco office.
At Fenton we develop and execute strategic communications campaigns on environmental, public health, education and social justice issues. We also provide media relations, branding, communications planning and digital media services to our nonprofit and foundation clients. This Account Coordinator will support a variety of accounts, but candidates that have experience and show passion for working with diverse communities in California are of particular interest.

The Account Coordinator is responsible for coordinating various administrative, media and research aspects for assigned clients. Essential responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Building media lists and maintaining media databases
- Monitoring news media and social media; compiling reports/summaries of coverage
- Conducting research on media markets, issues areas and new business prospects
- Utilizing common Web tools to help build-out and implement online campaigns
- Social media implementation with sites such as Facebook and Twitter
- Utilizing tools like Google Analytics to develop benchmarks and then analyze and report on stats for Web sites, social media sites, e-mail campaigns and online advertising
- Online marketing support
- Conducting communications audits using Google, Lexis-Nexis, Radian6 and other Internet tools
- Web site copy writing
- Organizing logistics for press conferences and other events
- Pitching reporters, producers, editors, bloggers
- Creating client and external correspondences
- Drafting press materials, fact sheets, Web content
- Assembling and distributing press packets and other materials
- Laying out PowerPoint presentations
- Proofreading/copyediting documents
- Providing input on strategies and tactics for communications campaigns and online marketing or advocacy outreach
- Assisting account staff on other activities as needed
- Managing content on behalf of clients utilizing content management systems such as Drupal, WordPress, etc.
Other Responsibilities:
- Meeting or exceeding 35 billable hours each week
- Assisting with client accounting codes, budgets, projections and work plans
- Researching media coverage of client subject areas and new business prospects
- Assisting with the formatting of new business proposals
- Researching and maintaining files on publicity-related tools, products and services
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
- At least 2 years’ experience in public interest/public affairs communications or online organizing/advocacy, with preference for agency experience
- Strong technology skills, including daily use of Web-based tools
- Strong news sense and a demonstrated ability to pitch clients and secure placements
- Familiarity with print and electronic news media
- Experience with standards, principles and techniques of public relations and online engagement
- Base of knowledge in more than one of Fenton’s core issue areas
- Excellent writing and editing skills
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Internet research
- Ability to juggle multiple tasks under tight deadlines; to perform in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in written format, with varying levels of company staff, clients, vendors and media
- Highly organized and detail-oriented
- Spanish proficiency a plus
