Tamara Murray
Account Director, San Francisco
Tamara Murray brings a wide range of expertise to her clients at Fenton, including online engagement, legislative and ballot-initiative campaigns and media relations strategy.
Her current and past clients include the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, The Nature Conservancy, the Stuart Foundation and the National Center for Lesbian Rights. As part of The California Wellness Foundation’s campaign to introduce young adults to jobs in health, Murray built an active community on Facebook connecting young adults to health workers for advice and encouragement. The campaign’s main Web site drew more than 1.7 million unique visitors in less than two years after its launch. She has also helped place clients in The New York Times, Reuters, Christian Science Monitor and numerous local outlets.
Prior to joining Fenton, Murray served on staff at NARAL Pro-Choice California and the ACLU of San Diego and Imperial Counties, where she led a campaign to help low-income parents advocate for better schools. Murray earned a B.A. in political science and women’s studies from San Diego State University, where she was awarded the Ned Joy Award for Excellence in Scholarship, Leadership and Community Service. She lives in San Francisco with her husband, Chris, who shares her competitive spirit in everything from tennis to who can dry the dishes fastest.
