Sylvia Arias

A native of Costa Rica, Sylvia Arias brings nearly a decade of strategic communications experience with a focus on political, environmental and humanitarian issues. She has worked with the National Resources Defense Council as a strong advocate for the conservation of the Osa Peninsula.
Arias has been closely linked to politics and public service throughout her lifetime. Most recently, as director of external communications, she worked extensively creating communication strategies for the Costa Rican Government (2006-2010) resulting in record high approval rating. She was later appointed co-president for the Costa Rican Presidential Inauguration Committee, developing the overall concept and strategy for the 2010 Presidential Inauguration.
Prior to Fenton, Arias was founder and designer of Tierra de Agua Bags, a brand inspired by nature’s elements using local Costa Rican materials and craftsmanship. She has worked as a journalist and has been involved in various philanthropic causes and organizations. Arias is a Boston College graduate in Communications and has conducted post graduate studies in Environmental Security from the United Nations mandated University of Peace in Costa Rica.
She loves connecting with nature, enjoys yoga and good coffee.
