Heidi Overbeck
Senior Account Executive, New York
Heidi Overbeck is a public interest devotee with extensive experience working for progressive causes and campaigns. She has a knack for research and revels in messaging. Her background includes many successes in policy development, political organizing and project management. At Fenton, Overbeck has developed and implemented communications strategies for the Division of Violence Prevention at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Phoenix House, Avon Foundation for Women, the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence, Annie E. Casey Foundation and American Jewish World Service, among others.
Prior to joining Fenton, Overbeck managed communications, advocacy and event planning for the Women’s City Club of New York, a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting responsive government and improving New Yorkers’ quality of life. Overbeck came to New York via Maine, where she worked as a legislative aide to 13 state representatives, assisting with policy development, media relations, and constituent outreach. She also served on the board of directors of Emerge Maine, where she recruited and trained emerging women leaders to run for public office. In the 2008 election cycle, she directed voter outreach for U.S. Congresswoman Chellie Pingree’s campaign, and in the 2006 election cycle, she managed volunteer recruitment and organized campaign events for candidates supported by the Maine Women’s Leadership PAC. Prior to that, she led the preservation program at Environment Maine, directing multiple advocacy and citizen outreach campaigns to protect Maine’s pristine woods and waters.
Overbeck was born and raised in Colorado and earned a B.A. in English with an emphasis in poetry from Colorado College, where she also worked as a professional writing consultant.
